CCD workshops can be held in both Romanian and English!
Workshop Description:
The main objective of the “Enter The Flux” workshop is to enhance the body and therefore its movement capacity through cognitive and intuitive processes. Inspired by different expressive domains such as Martial Arts, Theatre, Poetry, Capoeira, Urban Dance and Contemporary Dance, we will try to understand and use the body in as many ways as possible in order to acces the Flux. By “Flux” I refer to a certain state of an individual in which processing, assimilation and transformation of external input is accelerated in order to create valability and adaptability in any (movement) scenario.
Some of the focus points of this workshop are: improvisation tools, rhythmicity and coordination, speed manipulation, verbal articulation and creative speech, floorwork, soft acrobatics, swift assimilation of a strict movement material.
Moreover, the training seeks to develop one’s ability as a performer, offering opportunities to explore by using exercises that focus on the space-time-partner relationship, presence-readiness, engagement and the essential idea of play.
Teacher’s Biograhy:
Freelance performer and choreographer, George-Alexandru Pleșca undergoes his main artistic activity in Bucharest, Romania. He has obtained both a BFA and a MFA in Choreographic Arts during his studies at the National University of Theatre and Film ”I.L.Caragiale”. He has also graduated from the Academy of Dance and Performance, program established by the Bucharest National Dance Centre.
Developed an eclectic and intricate style, having been trained in different movement domains ranging from Ballroom and Hip-Hop to Mixed Martial Arts, Capoeira and Contemporary Dance. He is strongly inspired by film, poetry, theatre, visual arts and other movement practices, being interested in making them collide in his artistic approach.
At the present time, he is part of Contemporary Creative Dreamers dance company, often collaborates with Delazero Association, Linotip, CNDB and is a member of Late Field Collective – artistic group. Teaches dance and movement classes for both beginners and advanced students mostly in the local area, but also nationally.
On stage and as well as off it, he follows the idea of a “Flow State”, a constant feeling of awareness and understanding that permits the body to access different levels, textures, rhythms and feelings through consciousness. Only afterwards can we break the “rules”, diving into instinct, therefore making ourselves as immersive and alive as possible at any given time.
He has attended different workshops and masterclasses that enriched his dance and theatre knowledge. We remind some of those encounters such as FM Practice with different mentors, Sparkling Imagination – Horacio Macuacua, Complex Simplicity – Sita Ostheimer, Depth Movement – Edivaldo Ernesto, The Importance of Doing – Fabian Wixe, Artylogica – Vittoria de Ferrari, From Gravity to Lightness – Lali Ayguade, Puzzle Work – Anton Lachky, The Awakened Body – Rob Hayden and mentors like Christine Gouzelis & Paul Blackman, Winston Reynolds, Tom Weksler, Akira Yoshida, Noa Wertheim, Fabian Thome, Beniamin Boar, Adrien Ouaki, Gabriela Carrizo, Christine Gouzelis & Paul Blackman, Peter Jasko, Laura Aris, Marta Coronado, and many more.
